Eating Greens Is Not A Bad Thing

It's funny when you mention eating greens, people start to gag and then they want to tell you horror story's of their childhood in relation to greens!  I grew up in a house where we ate what my mother put on the table....I mean there are starving children in 3rd world countries that would love to have a plate of broccoli or a bowl of spinach or a mess of greens, right?  How many of you have heard that story over and over again.  It doesn't change the fact that greens are greens!  You just have to know that there is more than one way of preparing them.

Me, I like everything!  All the rainbow colors presented to us in the form of food!  One look at me and you can tell!  I've always had a love affair with food!  It amazes me how people can be so darn picky!  I guess I can thank my parents for allowing me to be a member of the "clean plate" club!  If there was an award like a Grammy or Oscar or something, I'd be up for it every year!

I, probably like you, have always eaten my greens the good ole' basic way!  Cooked in a greased up with bacon or ham cast iron skillet!  Yum, pardon me while my mouth waters!  Anyway, a year ago, I would have never thought to drink my greens!  Yes, I said drink my greens!  Thank you to IIN and my new friends in school, my kitchen is now an experimental test lab for greens!

I purchased a juicer (Cuisinart) to be specific and I love it.  Here's a picture of it!  And no I don't carry it in my wallet to show it off!
The next purchase was a Ninja Master Prep Professional Blender, Chopper and Ice Crusher.  Yes, I have a picture of that too!

People tend to think that you have to spend a lot of money on these items.  Well, I'm here to tell you, you don't.  I've got $300 in both of these.  Sam's Club has the Ninja for $49 and it comes with everything you need!  I make all my Smoothies in it!  Yesterday I juiced and then I poured it in my Ninja, added a banana and some crushed ice for a wonderful afternoon pick me up!

I call it the Green Gator!

Green Gator
Juice together the following:
1 big hand full of Kale
1 hand full of Spinach
7 Strawberry's
1 Carrot
1 small bunch of Parsley
1 Granny Smith Apple

Once juiced, pour into blender and add 1 Banana and some ice!  Walla!  You have a Green Gator!

Yes, I'm also writing a Smoothie/Juice Book, which I hope to have completed shortly!  In the mean time, I do teach classes, so if you're interested in getting some folks together, just let me know!

Cheers to Greens!
